Probably the most comfy bar in the Sternschanze area. GoldFischGlas In the middle of the Schanze, the retro-style bar attracts a diverse party crowd. Offering over 400 varieties of the bohemian green spirit and providing excellent advice on selection, the bar is the ideal place to enjoy a drink long-banned across the world and favoured by great men like Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso and Oscar Wilde. The diverse music sets range cover funk, soul, boogie, disco and jazz, sometimes mixed with more electric sounds. As you would seem hip to have chosen the location, and also you have to sit quite close to each other in the sofas to be able to hear one another in the large room with the bare walls.

We went there twice on a very rainy day. And it made me remember a few of my parents' friends had living room decorated with the same kind of furniture in the early 80's. Sofas that would look hideous in your own living room really fit in well with the downbeat decor, think, faded grandeur with a bit of damp. On weekends, the long bar counter on the the ground floor quickly fills with guests sipping happy hour cocktails, whereas the mini-disco in the basement is the place to warm up for a Hamburg party night. The Sofabar is one of Hamburg's most unique locales and a must-visit for those wanting to try out something different than the traditional bartop. Kittles has done everyone in the Qype community a great service by finding out what the hell this bar is actually called. This one's called Zöe 2 because the lounge across the street called Zöe 1 and belongs to the same people. Drinks here are decent, but not great, but you'd probably come here for the atmosphere and the people anyways.

The place is nice and the sofas very comfortable. Our varied menu includes sharing and small plate options, as well as an elaborate cocktail menu — be sure to try our signature Statesman for that Instagram moment. Prices are average and below, drinks are always great. After moving from its cult location on the Schanzenstrasse a few years back, the Dschungel has found a new home right between the hip Schanze and Karoviertel districts. Service was good although I was a little dissapointed that there was either various Astra's or Carlsberg. I'm usually pretty happy when I can just find a bench outside and some shade. The sofa's are incredibly comfortable and perfect place to chill and chat and watch whats going on from Neuer Pferdmarkt. I was there on a Friday night and was surprised how quiet it was inside. The lighting adds to the atmosphere and the large glass windows makes it a good place to watch whats going on on the street from the comfort of an old couch ;. In contrast to the older cult bars that charm with grittiness and character, the Walfisch Bar is sleek and modern yet cozy — and here to stay. The barmaids seem to be chosen by their great looks and their permanent good mood. And I had the impression people were coming over and getting there beers and going back over to Zoe 2. . The drinks are helpful as ice-breakers, of course.

There was a lot of action over at Zoe 2 outside. In addition, we had to pay straight away. As night falls, it transforms into a busy cocktail bar, seats fill up fast and the music becomes louder and trendier. After experiencing Zoe Bar I just had to try out this place. Life never stops at the fashionable and alternative.

Conclusion: A good bar in a good location. That shouldn't be a problem, the Sternschanze is bustling with places to eat. Chill out spot, nice patio set a bit back from the street, good spot for a drink or two. The Sofabar was one of the first bars I visited when I came to Germany, and remains one of my favorite evening locales during that dead hour after the evening is over but night hasn't begun yet. Great bar, with a crowd which can be most aptly described as resembling Shoreditch without the skinny jeaned, floppy haired, fixed gear riding wankers.
